Doctors Infection Control Services has over 28 years’ experience with infection control programs in Sub-Acute/ SNF facilities. We provide the following services.

Conduct on-going surveillance for infectious diseases existent on admission of patients to the SNF/Sub-Acute or developing after admission and collecting data relating to infection control.

Provide adequate infection control education to SNF/Sub-Acute employees in the form of new employee orientation, annual infection control updates and other infection control in-services on on-going basis.

Review, summarize, and trend infection control surveillance data and develop reports to be submitted to the Infection Control Function Meetings and the Quality Improvement Program.

Develop, review and update the SNF/Sub-Acute’s infection control policies and procedures on an ongoing basis and develop new policies as needed.

Consult with the medical staff, nursing, and other SNF/Sub-Acute departments and provide education and guidance in areas related to infection control and handling patients with infections.

Review all the SNF/Sub-Acute’s infection control activities and ensure that these activities meet the requirements of regulatory agencies such as The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the accrediting organization.

Provide education and guidance to SNF/Sub-Acute departments and personnel on employee health issues.

Establish prompt reporting of diseases to the local health department.

Coordinate any programs aimed at preventing infection spread or actions regarded as a follow-up to exposure of infectious agents.

Conduct infection control and safety rounds to ensure appropriate control measures are in place to prevent infection transmission and promote patient safety.

Contribute to the patient care planning and antibiotic stewardship team by providing information on infections and anti-infective agents. Make recommendations to the team and the physicians concerning reducing risks of communicable diseases and cross contamination.

Attend meetings and participate in committee work relevant to Infection Control and relay all pertinent information to the Infection Control Committee and SNF/Sub-Acute directors and employees.

Provide appropriate staff support during any regulatory agency survey.
